SHORT TERM IMPACT
The US government would create the "Sell or Starve act" soon after the battle.
This Act would cut off the Sioux Indians access to resources that they needed to survive, mainly food and water.
The Sioux eventually sold their land to the government and reluctantly moved onto reservations to ensure their survival.

LONG TERM IMPACT
The Battle of Little Big Horn changed the way that the Unites States viewed the indians. The US government would no longer patiently wait to negotiate with the Indians, they would just take what they wanted with force. This battle also led to the government re-establishing the boundaries of the Black Hills reservation land, which allowed the white men to settle within the originally outlined Indian reservations.
